5 Things To Do With A Can Of Tuna

I'm not too high-falutin' to eat canned tuna and am always looking for a way to incorporate inexpensive items into my meal planning (read: meal scrambling).

Check out bon appetit's blog post that offers ideas for this pantry staple.

Have you any tuna recipe ideas to share?

  1. When I first read your title, "5 Things to do with a Can of Tuna" I thought you literally meant things to do with the CAN! Believe it or not, tuna cans are great to re-use! I've used them for cookie, biscuit, and pastry cutters; and even egg poachers! But then, I used to use orange juice cans for hair rollers (WAY back..) As for the actual tuna...we love this recipe: Food TV's Ellie Krieger - Nicoise Salad Budget Friendly

  2. I haven't clicked through yet, but my favorite is to put it on pasta with capers, tomatoes, garlic, parsley.

  3. I'm not gonna lie...that title made me laugh out loud!! But seriously, I'd never knock a can o' white albacore!

  4. When I was in college in nineteen-forgotten I used to make tuna casserole by combining a package of Kraft Mac 'n' Cheese mix, bag of frozen peas, and a can of tuna. If I was feeling fancy, I'd add breadcrumbs to the top before I baked it. It was a great meal at the end of the month when funds were running low.

  5. Just found your blog through another one, on a post about the $30 food challenge. I have to say, I love the tuna salad in Rachael Ray's 365 cookbook. It doesn't have mayo in it, instead it's got olive oil and lemon juice. Sometimes I mix it up a bit, but I basically use tuna, olive oil, lemon juice, salt, pepper, onion, sun dried tomatoes, and olives. Sometimes I put in artichoke hearts and capers, but it just depends on if I have them. Her recipe has it in a sandwich but I sometimes just eat it with a fork and a side of a baguette.

  6. AWESOME blog. hilarity! now that i actually make a wage of some sort, i've upped my canned tuna purchasing from starkist in water to now choosing to spend the extra $1 on italian tonno in oil. so much tastier and you seriously can eat it straight from the can (or on arugua/lettuce or w/ some capers or green olives on some crackers OR thrown on some pasta w/ some hot pepper. love myself some tonno.
