Saturday Morning At The Cook's Warehouse!

From Videos

To say that the past few days have been ridiculously crazy and overwhelming would be an understatement.

In addition to a devastating loss of a family member on Thursday afternoon, my stepson, Gareth, was stricken with appendicitis on Friday morning. His condition called for an emergency appendectomy on Friday afternoon. Needless to say, I am a bit of a basketcase at the moment.

A couple of weeks ago, my dear, dear friend, Katie T, and I decided to take a class at The Cook's Warehouse in Atlanta. Each of us had been threatening to take a cooking class and thought that it'd be fun if we did it together. Since I'd already paid the $45 tuition ($10 of which came back to us as a gift card) and had missed the cancellation deadline, Katie T convinced me that this might be something that would help me relax from the past two days' stress.

I am so glad that I went. Our two hour class on "Breakfast Basics" was taught by the hilarious (and TBS-esque...he had all sorts of money saving kitchen tips) Patric Bell of West Egg Cafe' in Atlanta. We learned how to make: pancake/waffles from scratch and basic french toast. On the menu were: banana bread french toast(with carmelized bananas), bluberry pancakes/waffles, sweet potato pancakes/waffles and croissant french toast stuffed with mascarpone cheese and spiced apples. There aren't enough words to express how fabulous of a time we had.

Here's a picture of Katie T, Patric and me. Fun times!

Have you ever taken a cooking class? What was the focus?
