I know that I'm not talking to anyone here because we've all finalized our Thanksgiving day menus (wink, wink), right? Well, some way or another I have gotten a complimentary subscription to bon appetit magazine. I don't know where it's been all my life.
Though Thursday's meal is a done deal (I've nearly completed my shopping), there are a few entertaining opportunities on the horizon from now until the end of this year.
If you've never flipped the pages of this magazine, pick up a copy or visit it's website.
I'm most excited now about the December issue which offers 80 new holiday recipes. I think I'll try the Algonquin Bar Punch, the Oven Roasted Hash Brown Cakes and the Winter Salad of Butternut Squash, Endive, Apples and Bleu Cheese (doesn't the salad sound divine? It's making me want to change my Thanksgiving salad course.).
What I like most about bon appetit is its educational approach to cooking. Whether you need help with budget wine pairings or a primer on chanterelles (they're mushrooms, you know), it's presented in a DIY realm that's not intimidating at all.
