And a Happy New Year to you all!
Our son, Gareth, will attend his Senior Winter dance on Sunday and, being the good sport that he is so easily bribed, he allowed me to use him as a subject in one of my thrifting projects.
You see, Gareth wrestles and his weight is fluctuating like nobody's business these days. When I found that his suits were too big, I thought it might be a good idea to search a thrift store for a suit that he might wear to his soiree. Though he is svelte right now, as soon as he can eat regulary again, he will filling out his old suits like the linebacker that he is. So why invest hundreds of dollars in a new one, right? Right.
Check us out as we begin our search at the Salvation Army Store. What I can reveal is that we DID find a suit. It's at the tailor and will be ready tomorrow. I'll share the pay-off in a post on Sunday. Y'all won't believe it!
Do you thrift? Found anything cool lately?
Can you believe that I've never been shopping at a thrift store? I donate old clothes to the Salvation Army regularly, but I've never been inside one. You have inspired me to visit my local thrift shop! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI always find great stuff at thrift stores, but since I've gained a teeny tiny bit of weight (haha!) I mostly find furniture and other odds and ends. I just found some great stuff at the thrift store today! HAppy New Year to you.
ReplyDeleteI'm definately going to thrift a black sportcoat for the Rad-man next week! What a great sport Gareth is! XOX
ReplyDeleteI am obsessed with thrift stores. Got a great dress shirt for my husband a few weeks ago. It's the Faconnable brand which makes it a total steal at $8.
ReplyDeleteThrift...thats my middle name and blogging about thrifting is my game! As my name suggests...I love thrifting. I recently bought a velvet jacket made in Italy. A pair of Saks Fifth Avenue red pants (yes red...no Im not....it jus happens to be my favorire color), for $16.
ReplyDeleteI love thrift stores.
I found a great thrift store a couple weeks ago in the Miami Design District. The coolest thing about this store was that, because it's in the design district, designers give them new stuff that they sell for thrift store pricing. Shoes for $20. Jeans for $10. designer purses for $25. Let me know when you're in town, so that I can show you...
ReplyDeleteHi TBS!
ReplyDeleteI commend Gareth for going along with all this. Sometimes kids can be embarassed by things like this. You and Mr. TBS are doing a great job. Keep up the good work. I love your tips.
