The fab Amy J, Katie T and I were sitting around the lunch table a couple of days ago and ended up chatting about all things fashion. That led us to one of fashion's great debates....white pants and should they only be worn "after Easter and before Labor Day"?
The two of them seemed convinced that it'd be more appropriate to die a thousand deaths than to wear white pants in October.
TBS, as you may have figured, is a tad more avante guard. I say if the pants are clean, stylish and fit you well, they could be paired with a fab heather gray wrap sweater, black shell, a luggage-colored shoe or boot (oooh...a little suede would be nice), baubles and a wonderful bag. Whoot there it is!!!
What about you? White pants after Labor Day?

I break that rule -- CONSTANTLY! I think it's all about fabric. I wouldn't wear white linen, but I would wear white wool.
ReplyDeleteA constant battle for me too - especially for my newest white addition of white pants that I bought in May but never got hemmed, so I have, what, one week to wear them now? Ack! Better get on the hemming this weekend!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Erica B., winter white wool is perfectly appropriate and very chic.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't do white jeans or linen though....no matter how cute the outfit, it just wouldn't feel right.

I wear white after Labor Day. Always have. As long as it's warm enough.
ReplyDeleteI have no clue. I have recently jumped into fashion since I need clothes that are not maternity but fit my new postbaby shape. A friend of mine said the rule of no white after labor day is out dated and you can still where it, but I think it's been engraved in our heads for so long that not everyone knows this.
ReplyDeleteI also agree with Erica B.; I own my fair share of winter white pants (that are more of a wool material) but I would have a hard time trying to wear linen past labor day.
ReplyDeleteOK...Amy J. is convinced...I may wear my Lucky Brand White Jeans until the first snow falls! At least when I visit Arizona this Fall and Florida this winter! No Linen though...
ReplyDeleteThe snow falls white and looks truly perfect... why not follow mother nature's lead? A crisp pair of winter white pants, perfect with a sleek pair of boots. Bring on the snow baby, my pants are already pressed!
ReplyDeleteI wear white all year. The only thing that changes is the fabric.
ReplyDeleteAccording to the fabric...yeah.
ReplyDeleteUm, well...when you put it that way... NO but seriously, I wear white NEVER! I look a hot mess in white plus I will inevitably spill something red on it!
ReplyDeleteI just purchased the cutest pair of white pants a week or so ago and I'm going to have to wear them until at least the end of September.
ReplyDeleteDependent upon the fabric...absolutely!
ReplyDeleteI just bought a pair of white pants two weeks ago and need to get them tailored because even with my highest heels, they are still too long. However, they fit me great despite the length. I will wear these bad boys at least once before October.
