Modern Manners Monday: What Would You Do?

Happy Monday! Of course, I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.

This week's scenario is less of a scenario and more of a question so I'll cut to the chase.

What time is too late to call someone's home if there is no emergency involved? What is the latest that you accept phone calls at your home?

  1. For me it's different for different people. Most folks around ten but if I look down and see someone calling that never calls me late...I answer cuz I'm sure they have a reason.

  2. It depends on the person & their habits, & work schedule. 9 or 10pm is usually the cut off point.

  3. It depends on who it is. I wouldn't call someone I did not know well after 9pm. Really, it would have to be urgent for me to call after 8. My circle is so small, its rare that I get a call after 9 from someone I don't want to talk to.

  4. 9pm. I have a child and I like to keep our evenings open to spend time together before bed. Anyone calling later - if they are calling at all - would amount to an emergency call. Most of my friends no i don't like the phone so they text me if they need me.

  5. The rule of etiquette is 10 - 10. Easy to remember, no?

  6. It depends who it is ... my family and the gals can ring me up whenever. I do, however, like the previous comment's 10-10 rule.

  7. This is a pet peeve of mine. I prefer not to be disturbed after 10...unless you're calling with the bestest news in the world and you just can't contain yourself. News like that call me anytime and I'll squeal with you.

  8. I am usually okay up until 11 o'clock. Most all of the folks I talk to on the phone are up that late too so I rarely disturb anyone. We usually send a "are you still up" text before we call. Of course I made this blunder recently with you TBS (still sulking in shame) because you are early to bed...sniff..sorry!
