I Forgot To Bring These Over To The New House...

I was chatting up CreoleInDC and some of the Tribe tonight and she mentioned these lamps and the buffet.

Here is the original post:

I could hardly wait to share the wonderful lamps that I bought whilst shopping at the outlet this past weekend. First, let's be very clear about something: I had a $50 budget and I'd already spent $15 of it at Off 5th. But then...

As if they were waiting especially for me, I stumbled upon the chic-est resin antler lamps in the Pottery Barn Outlet. Originally pimped in the PB's sister store, West Elm, the lamp bases were marked $49.99 each. Oh...it only gets better. As my luck would have it, all lighting in the PBO was 50% off the lowest marked price. Yep...your math is right. I got both bases for $25 each. Now...you know I couldn't walk away. Prodded by Rhonda and Dee, I scooped up both lamps to outfit my recently purchased buffet/sideboard (it was originally $900, brand new and I paid $50...that's another story for a different day).

Before I was arrested for highway robbery, I purchased the lamps and wondered how I'd top them. I needed juuuuusssstttt the right lamp shades. Across the way was the Restoration Hardware outlet and I could not repel its magnetic draw (actually, Dee was in there shopping for cashmere slippers that we didn't think she needs but whatever). Before I knew it, I'd stumbled upon a shelf of lamp shades which were 40% off the lowest price. Like a true girlfriend, Rhonda ripped the lamps from their padding and we started trying the shades left and right. We finally settled upon these pleated mocha ones. Truth be told, I think I'd like something a little more funky and custom but these will do in the interim. Can I share my damage? $24. Yep. $12 each.
When I got home, I performed a bit of post-purchase intelligence. What I found is that the lamps were
originally $150 each and the lamp shades were $35 each.

So I went a little over budget but don't you think it was worth it? I even garnered a high-five from Mr TBS and, you all know he is ALWAYS lecturing(something about my habits nearly driving him to the poor house...lol) side-eyeing me when I bring home bags.

The buffet sits in our dining area and just behind our the dinner table. I know that I need to texturize it a little more. Katie T and I think that I should display my silver service set (this is a TBS staple) as a juxtaposition of a little antique with the modern pieces. What do you think?

Maybe a little more color too? What do you think?

I hope you like it and are inspired by the bargains.
