From Reader, AlliPalli: Signature Holiday Cocktail Needed!

The lovely AlliPalli has requested TBS's assistance for signature holiday cocktail ideas in the chatbox (to the right, to the right)! Oh, I must oblige!

A signature cocktail is essential for holiday fetes! It sets the mood for fun and is a fantabulous ice breaker. Who doesn't love to arrive at a soiree and be greeted by creative libation crafted especially for the occasion? TBS certainly does.

One of my favorite resources for holiday cocktails this season is Fine Living. They offer a variety of options from Champagne Cosmos to a bevy of hot toddies. The recipes are fairly budget-friendly and are not too overwhelming. We know what happens when we've too many alcoholic beverage choices, don't we? We settle for margaritas and beer...that's far too easy!
Having said that, I think the most exciting holiday cocktail that I've seen this season is Algonquin Rum Punch. It appeals to me as a signature drink because it is gender-neutral. Sometimes guys can be a tad weird about drinking from sugar-laced Champagne flutes. So here's the recipe:

Peel from 4 lemons (removed in strips with vegetable peeler)
1/3 cup superfine sugar
2 cups fresh raspberries, divided
3 cups Plymouth Sloe Gin
2 cups fresh lemon juice
1 1/2 cups Coruba dark Jamaican rum
6 cups ice cubes
1 ice block
2 cups chilled brut Champagne
Lemon slices
Place lemon peel strips in large bowl. Add sugar and mash with muddler or wooden spoon to infuse sugar with lemon. Add 1 1/4 cups raspberries and mash to blend. Pour in sloe gin, lemon juice, and rum. Add ice cubes; stir to blend. Refrigerate punch 20 minutes. Place ice block in punch bowl. Strain punch over ice block into bowl. Add Champagne; stir to blend. Garnish punch with lemon slices and remaining 3/4 cup raspberries. Ladle into punch cups.
There's a little elbow grease involved but that just makes for more fun when you receive the praises from your guests.
AlliPalli, please let us know what signature cocktail you decide to serve!
What is YOUR signature cocktail? Any ideas for AlliPalli?
