The Tale Of The $350 Ballet Flat

Ballet flat, how many ways do I love thee?  I love thee when I'm running errands. I love thee when the 4-inch heels let me down. I love thee with a pointy toe. I love thee with a brooch.

But I do NOT love thee when you are $350 (insert long screeeeeech here...)!

Over the weekend, I wandered into one of my favorite boutiques in Atlanta (which shall remain nameless because I REALLY, REALLY love it and the people who work there) whilst waiting for my bread order at the bakery next door.  I spotted her immediately.  She was donned in black patent leather, looked so comfy but bore no price.  I asked for my size, slipped my tootsies in them and quickly fell in love.

They were, I found, Maloles. Oh, how I love a European shoe. No wonder I had to have them. Until. Oh, until...I inquired about the price from the shop girl. "Just $350...", she replied. $350? For ballet flats? Yeah. No. I committed the brand to memory and couldn't wait to find out more about this line when I got home.

It didn't take long to find the story of Maloles and it also didn't take long to find a pair. In my size. On Amazon for....get this...$106. Same style as in the boutique. No differences except $244 (especially since the navy ones are $315...surely there was some fluke.) Can you believe it? Annnnnnnndddddddddddd they'll be on my doorstep by noon today.

Vive la bargain shopping!

What was YOUR last bargain?

  1. They are cute too Shameeka! But, for $350? yeah...NO! Now the price you paid was a steal. You can't find a pair that great at J. Crew for that price. And in our size? Shoot no!

    Love 'em!

I scored 2...yes two pair of boots in DSW for less than $100!!!!!!

Used my coupon and discount points, and one pair already had a 30% off sticker.

  5. Score! I love when that happens, because I agree with you, I would not have paid $350 for ballet flats.

Nordstrom half-yearly sale starts tomorrow. :-)

  12. I ALWAYS look on Amazon for something I see in store. I don't know how many times I've seen something a lot less expensive on Amazon. Love it!

  13. last deal was a $2,000 armani suit for $300..yippee! I can't begin to list all the deals because I have "champagne taste and a coca-cola pocketbook" so most of my deals are always on sale. I'm just glad that I invested in classic pieces because since I'm now unemployed I don't need to shop as much

  15. Much better than the original, but $106 for a ballet slipper...not for me. My favorite deals (and seemingly my most complimented outfits) come from my local TJ Maxx. It's the best TJ Maxx I've ever shopped at.
