Preparing For The Holidays: The Make-Up Edition

Emmy-award winning, celebrity makeup artist (and MY girlfriend...I'm so proud), Nyssa Green

I'm always chatting about my stable of fabulous girlfriends.  I never mean to be a braggart but they are all so smart, talented and beautiful.

Enter Nyssa Green...one of my dearest friends.  You know the type: the girl who's seen you at your WORST and still loves you? Mmmmhmmm....she'd be THAT girl.  Nyssa and I met *cough* nearly 15 years ago and it has been amazing to watch her transform from a hobbyist make-up junkie to an agency-owning, Emmy-award winning makeup artist who travels all over the world..ahem..beating down faces.

Nyssa is ALWAYS getting on to me about makeup (or my lack thereof).  I just don't like it! I have always been a lipgloss, blush, mascara and I'm good kind of girl and that drives her up a wall.  Frankly, I just don't have time for a lot of products.  One of these days, I'm going to actually reveal my makeup bag and you'll see how HORRIBLE I really am.

Until then, I wanted to share a series of tutorials that Nyssa pulled together for Southern Living magazine and SouthernLiving.com.  She covers everything from party makeup tips to constructing an easy (yeah, right) smoky eye.  Click here for the details.

How are YOU with makeup? What's your regimen? Any favorite products to share?

  2. I could be much better with make up. I must have mascara and lip gloss like you..but now I'm noticing that I need to include concealer on that list :(

  3. I'm a light foundation and powder kind of girl. Every now and again, I will put on blush or eye shadow. I never wear lips stick, just a little gloss.

  4. I've always just washed my face with soap, slapped on a moisturizer, then dabbed on lipstick. And I was fine with that. Then I got old, (er) darn it! So now I have a fabulous cosmetic line. If you'd like to know more here's my little blog: http://travelingglamourshow.blogspot.com/

  5. I recall her from the RHOA. I thought she was really sweet. I can see her as the friend that you have explained her to be. I am like you though. I dont wear makeup. I wear mascara, and lipgloss and maybe mac liner.. Just to much work, and I am afraid to look to MADEUP. Not to mention acne prone skin...just alot of factors.

And, is there anyone that you don't know?

  8. Oh how I love Make Up. If I could marry a MAC counter I would! I just love spashing color all over my face. (And I don't particularly mind if I look like Homie the Clown either). I make special trips to Wal Mart and Target just so I can empty the Cover Girl shelves. EVen my hubby is amazed at how many colors I can put on my eyelids in a day!

  9. I am a beauty junkie. Although really I only wear lipgloss, mascara and a gel blush. When I get "fancy" I throw on a sweep of eyeshadow LOL. Still I'm a junkie because I love reading about and occasionally buying make-up. I could buy lipgloss for days.

  10. I'm pretty good at doing my own makeup and with M.A.C. being my official sponsor, I really think I am rocking and rolling lol. When I have a really special occasion I use Stephanie Dawn, she is bad too. Congrats to your friend, I've seen her out before! xoxo

  11. My favorite make-up "staple" is Maybelline mascara. I have been using it for 30 years (dating myself...I know)...lol
